Laurel Hill Creek Upper Section & tributaries

General Description

The Casselman River rises in Grantsville, MD and flows to Confluence, PA where it meets the Youghiogheny. The river provides stretches of Class II and III whitewater where canoers and kayakers can challenge themselves in powerful chutes and pockets of bubbling eddies.
Acid mine drain off has been cleaned up on the Casselman, making many areas suitable for trout and bass fishing.

Laurel Hill Creek has retained many of the qualities of the natural river. Kooser & Laurel Hill State Parks form the head waters of the Laurel Hill Creek, while state forest and game lands cover western portions of the basin. When the creek is in a high water stage, canoers can find challenging Class III runs.
