Ride through the scenic pages of our history!
You'll climb up out of the city to the site of the dam that broke on May 31, 1889, causing the 19th century's worst natural disaster - the Great Johnstown Flood of 1889. Continue along our forested back roads that take you through the heart of Cambria County's small communities to beautiful Prince Gallitzin State Park. Park the bike and take a different ride - deep underground to see where miners used to dig coal by hand at Seldom Seen Mine.
Return to Johnstown traveling gently curving roads through scenic farmlands along the Allegheny Plateau, and through the deepest river gap east of the Mississippi - the Conemaugh Gap. Learn story of the immigrants who came through Ellis Island and settled in Johnstown to build a new life at the Heritage Discovery Center, and conclude your tour with the triumphant story of Johnstown's amazing recovery from the Great Flood.
