Wind through the mountains of Raystown Lake on the 30+ miles of bumps, jumps, dips and rollers rated one of the nation’s “4 Best Bike Trails” by Men’s Journal.

Rothrock State Forest-Greenwood Furnace
Both single and double tracks are found throughout this mostly hilly terrain, varying enough in technical difficulty to suit any level of rider. These trails offer great views as well as an abundance of wildlife.

Water Activities

Frankstown Branch Juniata River Lower Section and Canoe Creek
There are no developed access points for this section of the Frankstown Branch in the Altoona Destination Area.

Great Trough Creek
Great Trough Creek in the Raystown Lake Destination Area cuts through Terrace Mountain with a whitewater stretch of Class I-III rapids suitable for paddlers of medium experience before emptying into Raystown Lake. Beginners should not attempt this section without the aid of a more experienced paddler.

Greenwood Lake
A six-acre lake in Greenwood Forest State Park in the Raystown Lake Destination Area.

Juniata River
The Juniata River in the Raystown Lake Destination Area runs approximately 90 miles through several scenic mountain ranges offering seasonal flat-water paddling opportunities for individuals and families interested in single or multi-day river trips.

Little Juniata River Lower Section & Bald Eagle Creek Tyrone Section
The Little Juniata is a large river in the Altoona Destination Area with deep pools, moderate water, and a number of access points for paddlers who come to navigate the riffles and rapids in the Lower section.

Raystown Branch Juniata River Section 4
Section 4 of the Raystown Branch of the Juniata, in the Raystown Lake Destination Area, can be explored by canoe year-round, though it is best traveled from March through July, when It is a Class I river, easily navigated with minimal skills making it ideal for the beginner to intermediate canoer or kayaker.

Raystown Lake
Owned and operated by the US Army Corps of Engineers, this 8,300 acre lake has 7 boat launches along 28 miles of navigable water fed by the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River in the Raystown Lake Destination Area.
