Raging Rapids Adventure Tour
If you feel that you're on top of the world on this tour, it's because you are at the highest elevation of any county in Pennsylvania. 2,190 feet to be exact. The tour begins in historic Somerset, Pennsylvania. Imagine cycling on land in which America literally traveled on its journey west. Riding through several scenic rural areas, you will encounter beautiful countryside and historic covered bridges built in an era starting 150 years ago. Cycling upon this mountain "pass" you can view the Allegheny Mountains on the east and the Laurel Hills on the west. This trail is just a Conestoga wagon wheel turn away from the notorious and exciting raging rapids of the Youghogheny River. A moderate to advanced adventure certainly to keep on "The Favorite List".
The Raging Rapids Adventure Tour begins in downtown Somerset and travels south throughout several rural towns before turning north in Confluence near the Youghogheny Dam and returning to Somerset. A variety of scenic segments as well as covered bridges are encountered along the way.

Terrain: Rolling to hilly.
Pavement quality: Generally good, but no shoulders on most rural roads. Several moderate climbs and steep downhill grades.
