Mid State Trail

This scenic point-to-point route offers hikers the opportunity for an extended trip into the wooded mountains and valleys of The Alleghenies. Traversing a 23.3-mile portion of the 274-mile Mid State Trail, this section climbs along rocky ridges with views across the rolling terrain, passes several historic sites - including an abandoned railroad tunnel - and winds through two state parks and a state forest. The area is also part of the Susquehanna River Birding and Wildlife Trails network and is well suited for spotting the many species of birds and animals who live in this region. Leave No Trace camping in Bald Eagle State Forest is permitted for hikers along this trail.23.3-mile portion of the 274-mile Mid State Trail, this section climbs along rocky ridges with views
