This easy loop takes hikers through a picturesque hollow of mixed forests as it winds past several natural springs and a charcoal hearth. Wildlife viewers should keep alert to spot the abundant white-tailed deer, black bear, wild turkey, ruffed grouse and many other species of small game that live in the region. Along the shores of Greenwood Lake, duck, great blue heron and the occasional osprey can be seen as well. Throughout the early evening hours of May and June, whip-poor-wills can be heard singing their unique calls as the sun begins to set.
