This blue blazed loop to the Greenwood Fire Tower on Broad Mountain begins near a historic blacksmith shop. Along the way, hikers should keep their eyes open for ancient house foundations and charcoal hearths, as well as white-tailed deer, black bear, wild turkey, ruffed grouse and many other species of small game that call this region home. Around the shores of Greenwood Lake, duck, great blue heron and the occasional osprey can be found as well. And in the early evening hours throughout May and June, whip-poor-wills can be heard raising their unique calls into the night air.
