1000 Steps Challenging
This out and back pathway follows portions of the 72-mile Link Trail as it winds to the historic Thousand Steps Area of The Alleghenies. Along the way, it passes through some of the region's most unique wildlife areas where a variety of reptiles and lizards thrive. The trail leads to the bottom of the Thousand Steps and then up the long stone staircase built by quarry workers in the 1930's who used the pathway to climb nearly 1,000 feet to the top of Jacks Mountain to start their workday. The views from the top across The Alleghenies landscape are well worth the effort. Once at the top, you'll continue along steep, rocky sections to the summit of Jacks Mountain.
